Default EGT on full throttle run-up fixed pitch prop

I'm noticing that when I do a full power run-up the EGT is pretty low, around 1060F. The probes are 2 inches from the exhaust flange.

I was thinking that because I only turn 2200RPM at WOT static then I'm not making 100% HP so the EGT would not be all that high.

Do others find the same experience with their aircraft?

Assuming that you still have the mixture full rich, lower EGT's aren't that suprising. If you lean it out, you'll probably see EGT's more in line with what you expect - but you shoudln't lean it too far at full power.

You are just over 80% power as a rough mental maths guess.

And full rich, probably that is right.

As Paul says above
