Garmin 696 charts?

I recently bought a 696 from another VAF'er. It's awesome, btw.

Anybody got an opinion about which charts to buy for it? The choices are Garmin's FlightCharts or Jeppesen Chartview. Best I can tell, one is preloaded and requires the purchase of a key, and the other is a download. Either costs a mere (?) $499 for the complete set with all the goodies. Can anyone shed some light on either or both? Thanks.

I've used both versions, and settled on the Garmin plates because I have just always preferred NOS chart format to Jeppeson (of course, that's what I was trained on, and they were cheaper, so it's not really a hit on Jepp....just an old dog thing...).

To be honest, I remember a minor technical reason why I liked the Garmin/NOS better, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was now.

Thanks Paul. I was leaning towards the Garmin proprietary stuff too, even though I use Jepps at work.
