Default Removing paint & polishing question

I have half of a spare horizontal stabilizer I would like to use as a polished aluminum desk/table. Its primed and painted. What products/techniques would I need to remove the paint?

If it was painted it should have been prep for paint, sanding down with sand paper or scotch pad, wich means a lot of work to bring back to a polished finish. easier to reskin.

Default Paint it?

I like the idea. Why not paint it with some cool checkered pattern or something? I think that might look better than polished anyway. Could use it go gain experience painting your 10.

Polished would look sweet though:
