Question Wing spar bolt holes for tricycle undercarriage

Hi guys,

I am building a tail dragger RV7, and was wondering if the holes in the centre spar where the rear wheels attach if building a tricycle undercarriage version are left without bolts or if these holes need bolts installed?

Regards,
Eddie

The bolts that hold the main gear weldments to the center spar on a trike are also the bolts that hold on the wings. Are those the bolts you're talking about?

Hi Kelly,

Perhaps I am wrong about the gear attaching here, as the holes I am talking about are actually between the rivets in the top part of the spar so there is no way that the wing would slide past these?

This is not my spar, but I hope illustrates what I mean, just above the Green sticker there is a bolt hole, to the right of this is a solid rivet.

Yes, all holes get filled.

If I remember correctly the bolts that go in the unused holes are in a bag marked 999. That was for an RV-8 kit.
But my mind is old!
