Default Dehydrator Plugs, an alternative

Recently, someone commented about Dehydrator plugs but I'll be danged if I can find the post.

Anyway, here's something I recently discovered and it works well for my application which is for a pickled O-360 on an engine stand and covered with plastic. Pix here:https://picasaweb.google.com/1083557...LeXuPu2vLiuyQE

It's a gadget with a Remington brand name made for gun safes which also need dehydrating and can be found in many places. For instance, here:http://www.amazon.com/Remington-Mode...1303103&sr=8-5
I paid $20 locally. You use it until the crystals turn pink just like "our" plugs, but then you can plug it into an outlet until they turn blue again. Pretty slick...

Been in there two weeks so far, no pink on either the unit or the plugs which I left in for reference. This from rainy W. Oregon

Default deyhdrator

I saw and duplicated at dehumidfying device for my IO-360. Basically an aquarium pump, a couple of 2 liter bottles containing silica, and tubing. One goes in the oil filler neck and the other goes in the breather tube. I have to dry out 4 liters of silica every couple of weeks...if this tells you how much moisture is in there after a flight.
