Default RV-6 fatal accident

There was a fatal accident near my home on Tuesday afternoon. The FAA is calling it an RV-6. We initially didn't know even what type it was, as there were no recognizable pieces. Looks like it went straight in.

Here's Wednesday's news story from the local paper:

Very sad.

It appears as though he was either IFR or receiving VFR advisories on the accident flight. He was tracked on Flight Aware to what appears to be the accident area.

Default straight in

I always wonder how a straight in crash can happen if the pilot is conscious. So sad......I am very sorry.

I was flying in the area just after the crash. Not a cloud or bump in sky.

My heart goes out to his family but I have to believe he went doing what he wanted to be doing instead of sitting on the ground wishing he hadn't sold his plane like so many older pilots I know.

My saddest sympathies go out to the family and friends. May they find comfort and peace in the days ahead.
