Hmmm..
Never really thought of it. Not sure what purpose the overhang serves beyond providing structure under the rear canopy skirt. I doubt it carries any significant structural load (I know, trim it and you will flutter, fold your wings and die).
It does slightly get in the way when loading stuff, but it is really not a big deal. You can only trim it back so far anyway beneath the rear canopy skirt.
Non issue - build on.
