Default AeroLEDs TSOA

Just wanted to announce that the FAA granted TSOA approval for the AeroLEDs Pulsar NSP, NS180, and Suntail lights this past Friday.

Default As a Pulsar NSP Owner, I approve this message

This is great news. As an owner of the Pulsar NSP lights, is there anything that I need to say or do to document this fact? When the DAR comes to inspect, can I point to a piece of paper and say "See, they are TSO'ed?"

The NS90 will not be built under TSO, but it has the same performance in the forward 90 degree arc and the NSP and NS180. We will continue to build experimental versions of these lights that don't have the TSO tags attached, but they are built with the exact same parts as the TSO units, so if your DAR has any questions, let them know that, or I can help you out by talking with them about it. The experimental versions will be a little bit less $$ than the TSO units, which is why we want to keep the experimental ones available for builders (since TSO is not required for LSA or experimental).

Dan,

Only because there really aren't many certified airplanes that the NS90 is needed on, and for those they can justify the higher price of the NS180. Experimental builders are more price sensitive, and the NS90 gives them the option to combine the NS90 with the Suntail for full anti-collision coverage without having to pay the higher price of the NS180 (which is needed more on exposed wingtip locations rather than in a location like the RV notch). The NS90 still has all the same parts used in the TSO units, and still meets the FARs, so not having it listed on the TSO really shouldn't matter to homebuilders.

Congratulation.

Whats the difference between TSO and TSOA?

And: Whats the difference between the Pulsar and the Pulsar NSP?

TSO = Technical Standards Order
TSOA = Technical Standards Order Authorization

The Pulsar is longer and equivalent to the A600 footprint, while the Pulsar NSP is shorter and equivalent tot he A650 footprint. This thread covers that: http://www.vansairforce.com/communit...lsar+footprint
