Default Cleaning up tailfairing

Last night our bodyman/friend suggested building a small 'ramp' in front of the tail fairing so that "the air don't run into it" and we agreed. Here is the final result.......neat looking, http://img105.imageshack.us/img105/906/tailfairing4ku.jpg[/IMG]

Default Ramp

I can't quite tell from the pic what you did. Did you build up a bit on the aluminum part of the fuselage to provide a smooth transition to the fiberglass fairing?

Default Fairing

Yes, we did,
although it doesn't show very well in the photo. We masked the fairing down to the aluminum skin and laid green bondo for about 3 inches forward and cleaned a groove between the fairing and the bondo in order to be able to remove the fairing later,

Default Smooth

It is very hard to tell, which of course is good. Very smooth transition. It's gotta be good for a knot or two!

I can see it very well, now that I know what to look for!!
Good Job......
I would think it was good for 3 knots at least

Default

I simply beveled the front edge of the glass on mine. 6 vs half dozen I guess. The fairing on mine sat pretty flush.
