Default Purpose of Bolts in Aft Deck

For my own edification, I am curious as to the purpose of these bolts attached to the aft-deck, in figure 2 in the plans below. This is the -10 plans, but i'm assuming that these bolts are in other models as well.

I can't see any purpose in ever removing these bolts, since the parts it attaches to are also riveted. Only other reason i can think of is for greater shear strength?

thanks for any insights!

Default they keep the tail on.

Jae,

These bolts carry the tail loads to the longerons, which in turn transfer the load to the skins. You shouldn't ever have to take them out. I wouldn't leave them out if I was you !

Default Thanks

Right, that makes sense. In all other cases using bolts so far, i could understand why a bolt was used instead of a rivet. Either it was for something that allowed removal later, affixed dissimlar metals together such as steel with Al or Al with lead.

Thanks for the input. I have these bolts torqued and sealed.

Bolts are used for tension. Rivets are not as good in tension.
