Default fuel tank vent shape

I'am the second hand owner of a nicely built RV4.
I'm a bit puzzled by the fuel vents which are fitted : they end like pitot heads (I can't attach pics ): it sure gives positive pressure but I can see a big risk of them being jammed by a bug or anything really...
Can anyone advise on how wise it is to have these sort of vents?
Thanks a lot

The standard bulkhead fitting vents (cut at 45 degrees) are usually fitted with some fine screen to keep bugs etc. out of the vents.
