Default Wing Inspection Lights?

Has anyone put a flush mounted light on the side of the fuselage pointed at their wing leading edge? Being in the PacWest, flying at night I often carry a flashlight to periodically look at the wing LE to make sure ice isn't accumulating. Whelen has a product (71280) that is designed for this but is 28V only. I imagine a simple enclosure and LED light would be sufficient.

You might want to consider the AeroLEDs Sunlite ($149) for that purpose. It is small and runs on 9-36VDC.

That would mean never flying IFR at night in the PacWest.
