Default Garmin 396 to 696 adapter?

Unless Garmin announces something new at Oshkosh I'm planning to upgrade my 396 to a 696. My 396 is wired into my radio stack with a data cable. I was hoping to find an adapter that would mate the 396 plug to the 696 but no joy so far. Has anyone seen one or am I stuck with wiring in the 696 equivalent cable?

I don't think you'll find an adapter. When I upgraded from the 496 to a 696, I removed the 496 power data cable and replaced it with the 696 cable.

On the plus side, depending on where your 696 is mounted, you may not need the external GPS antenna. The built in antenna works very, very well.
