Default Extender coax cable

I have a Garmin Pilot III GPS that I want to mount in my RV-4 as a back-up to my Anywhere Map PDA. The only place to mount it is in front of the stick where the fuel valve is.

At that location it will not see satellites. A friend said I could remove the antenna and mount it on the roll bar, and then run an extender coax cable between the antenna and GPS.

I have found twist-on male and female BNC connectors that work with RG-59 and RG-62 coax. Will either of those coax work, and if so, which one, or which is the best?

Thanks,
