Default Insurance Costs

I'm a low time (Warrior/172) pilot and I'm thinking about purchasing an RV-9A. I'd love to build one but that's not in the cards. Do any of you know how insurance would compare against a 172 class airplane?

I have 500 total hours. I had only 10 hours tailwheel time and zero RV time when I insured my RV6 for $1800 a year. I had gotten a quote on a Citabria a year earlier and it was $1300 a year. I didn't get a good answer why it was so much less than the RV.

I'd recommend checking in with Jim Pappas who's RV Insurance link is displayed to the left, Rosie
