Default Break Lines

I'm thinking about shortening the Vans supplied flexible breaklines which run from the pedals to the firewall. Has anyone done this? After accounting for pedal travel, they seem to be about 5 inches too long. BTW its an RV9.

Wow. That seems to be really long. Are you going over the top of the cross bars? Or are you mounting them close to the FW for tall pilots? Mine seeme to fit pretty well (RV-7A).
