Default Air vents etc

I bought a couple small vents from SteinAir to replace the black plastic ones that came with my kit (RV-8). They are quite nice by the way. I'm considering using one of the plastic ones that came with my kit as a hot air vent since the hot air is opened or closed somewhere other than the vent itself. I'm thinking the leaky plastic vent won't matter there.

Question is will the plastic plenum and vent hold up to the heat from the heat muff?

What is normally used for the hot air vent?

Thanks,
