Default Fuel tank inspecton cover

Some say to use the gaskets under the fuel tank covers T-708, some say just proseal metal to metal. I removed mine this week end and the original builder used gaskets and proseal. They weren't leaking but popped off easily.
How would you go back?

You can get new gaskets from Vans. I put a coat of Fuel-Lube on mine before I used them; I've replaced them when I re-plumbed the right tank for a return line and no leaks before or since.
