Default Master Cylinder Problem

My RV-8 has dual Matco master cylinders. Each master has its own mini reservoir. I did a swap out on all the O rings in the system and filled the lines with DOT 4 fluid today, from the bottom up.

Left brake works fine, nice and firm. The right brake will sometimes be firm and other times will fade to the floor. After the fade, if I depress the pedal again it will squirt brake fluid from the breather cap on the reservoir.

Has anyone seen this before?

Thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

Tks,

Mike

Make sure the piston is returning all the way to the top, also make sure your totally air free on the problem side-----what you describe could be either from the sound of it.

Good luck.

If you have the old style Matco (Parker) parking brake valve,,,,they had a tendency to leak internally trought the check valve. We had the exact same problem on the Cozy MKIV and replaced the old valve with a new style one. It solved the problem for us. FWIW

GT's right. Sounds like the compensator is stuck.
