Default mechanical fuel pump tricks

Installing my new fuel pump has been more or a challenge than I planned. Having a hard time lining up the actuatur arm and pin lined up and getting the bolts in. Anyone have any tricks/tips on this.?

Make sure the arm is all the way up by rotating the engine while feeling it (having the plugs out makes this much easier). Make sure the pump goes straight in and is not cocked to the side. Get the bolts started and work them in evenly and slowly, from there it should go in with very little resistance.

Great...thank you. I got it installed. My engine is still on the stand so access was not an issue. I needed to turn the engine to shorten the plunger. After that I got it on with no prob. thx again
