I used a trashed VOR antenna (somewhat tapered) for stock and bent it in a vise because it was the only suitable material I could find on short notice during a particularly blustery day at the airport when the need for a rudder gust lock became glaringly apparent. A fishing tackle swivel attached to a couple of key rings helps keep the flag from balling up.

The lock Rick uses on Darla looks like the one I had seen. It is what I plan on using when I finally get to the point I need to think about it.
