Default Another OAT Sensor Probe Question

I am researching OAT sensor probes. I am planning to install the probe in the VANs pitot tube hole (drilled on the wrong side of the aileron bell crank and have since gone with a pitot mast config) and need one that will fit the 3/8" hole. Are all OAT sensor probes created equal and compatible between manufactures?

If you can't find a probe to fit the hole take the one you have and remove it from its mount and remount it in a bored out bolt of the proper size.

No they are not. I have two, one that is from Garmin and one from GRT and thought they were interchangeable. So, I had connect them crossed and was getting all weird temps. Then I swapped the wires, Garmin to go with Garmin and GRT to GRT and both show good temps. Likewise a friend of mine bought his probe from Wal-Mart and he is getting Wal-Mart rated reliability/accuracy from the probe.
