Cool Flying to/in South Korea

OK, really non-standard question here. I could possibly get an assignment to South Korea next year, and I'm wondering about flying my shiny new RV-6 over there. I know that the AF base there has an Aero Club, so presumably civilian flying is not too big of a deal. But how do I get the airplane over there?

Has anyone ever heard of someone flying their RV (or other airplane) to Japan, Russia, or Korea?

Thanks for any help,
Jordan Grant

Default Flying in Korea

Jordan,

I was stationed over there in 1999 - 2000 and flew a lot at the aeroclub. The only GA in South Korea is the USAF Aeroclubs, so I doubt you'd have much luck with the RV. I could always be wrong tho...

Default When I was there ...

All I saw were ROK P-51Ds and C-46s at K-2. At K-55 they had USAF F-86s. I did get a ride in a ROK Cessna 180 from K-16 back to K-2 once. Things have obviously changed a lot in 50 years but I wouldn't want to take my RV-6A there based on my one year exposure - you would not be able to protect it.
