Default Grove Brake Reservoir

I see some builders have replaced the Van's brake reservoir with the Grove unit. Is there any good reason why I should do the same? I plan on getting the plastic hose replacement kit from Bonaco but am curious as to if there is some reason as to why I should replace the fluid reservoir? Any insight is appreciated!

Trevor,

There were several aspects about Van's reservoir installation that I didn't like, and so I redesigned it (using a Grove reservoir) to solve those problems. I did a write-up about it, problems and solutions:

Note that it's not flying yet, so no service history yet, use at your own risk, all the usual disclaimers...

Been flying for 10+ years with the stock setup, and haven't had to add a drop of brake fluid, ever.

It's time to bleed the old fluid out, and replace with fresh. Hyd fluid absorbs moisture, and results in corrosion. Cheap insurance. I think every 5 years is good.
