Smile When to paint the interior of a quickbuild

I am getting my RV8 quickbuild fusalage in the next few days. My question is when does it work best to have the interior painted. I will be taking it to a paint shop.

Wait until after you have fitted and installed everything the first time, i.e. floorboards, fuel lines/pump/selector, gear legs, flap actuator shaft, rudder pedal assembly, brakes lines, seats, controls, throttle(s), instrument panel (at least a blank one), fore and aft baggage compartment floors, rollover bar, canopy rails, etc... I even waited until items like the autopilot & trim servos and the ELT mount were installed.

Then do any mods you're going to incorporate, like the avionics access door that so many people find useful.

When everything fits, operates, and looks the way you want, then take it all out and paint the interior. You'll save yourself a lot of touch-up painting later.

Have fun!
