Default There are some out there, but ....

...resist the temptation. A good friend with an RV-7 regretted putting them in the first time he tried them. This winter he'll be cutting in the Duckworks style. His comment? "The wingtip landing lights put the light way out there at the wingtip ... where it's no help whatsoever."

I disagree completely. I went with HID (Hella 50mm lamps) and have more than enough light.

Thumbs up PlaneLights

I've been extremely happy with my lights from www.planelights.com

I have the 50W set, and they fit right into the standard Vans mounting brackets in the wingtips of my -7A. I've been into 100 foot wide runways at night and those lights light up the WHOLE runway. I've been asked by multiple towers and people on the ground what I have in the wingtips after they've seen me on final.

I made some good decisions and some bad decisions on non-stock items during my build. These landing lights are definitely one of the better non-stock decisions I made. Also, they replaced one of mine after it didn't light after install, so customer service gets a thumbs up from me as well.

Default Gas

Consider saving the wing tip area for gas. The one thing the 9 really needs.
