Default aluminum bulkhead fitting

Hey Guys

I've been trying to get information about the aluminum bulkhead fittings offered by Van's. The part number is EYEBALL SE961-125B.

My firewall is quite thick - 10mm - and I'm trying to determine, before buying it, whether or not this fitting would be appropriate for a thicker firewall like mine.

Anyone have any experience with them?

all the best

Grubac,

I've installed a couple of these on my firewall. The concern I would have is the thickness of your firewall, because the brackets that hold the sphere in place are machined (well, stamped) to fit the sphere with a minimum thickness of firewall. A 10-mm firewall will make the sphere pretty loose, I would think. You might get away with 5 mm.... but the only way you will really know is buy one and try it.

Thanks for the response Greg

That's exactly what I was concerned about. I figured those sphere-holding plates wouldn't grip it as well if the firewall was thicker than usual.

I'll have to look for a better option.

all the best
