Default Tip: Tailwheel Stand

An engine stand makes a great tailwheel stand with the addition of this height-adjustable post:



(1) 3/16 plate for the base.

(2) lengths of 1-3/4 angle and (2) lengths of 1-3/4 strap for the tailwheel cup.

(2) nuts and 16" of threaded rod for the post. I used some 1-1/8 from the scrap bin.

(2) 3/8" bolts with nuts and washers.

Bolt the assembly to the top of the stand and spin the cup to adjust height:

Hey Dan, looks like those make better tailstands than engine stands. I've had one of those for decades and it usually just stands around with a dud engine on it while I do my rebuilds on a galvanized bench top. I've never found it that handy to assemble an engine vertically, especially continentals.
