Question LED Dimmer

Will the Panel Dimmer that Van's sells (ES DIMMER, LAMP 1.5A) work with LED strips ? I realize that LEDs require PWM circuits.
Thanks
Phelps

Yes it will. You do not have to use PWM to dim LED's...

Default LEDs and PWM

Thanks, I had read posts stating that this was required. I take it you have done this with a non PWM dimmer. Thanks

Yes I have....there are many reasons why driving LED's with constant current, PWM etc. is better than variable voltage sources but in this case, it is just to plain simple and inexpensive to bother with the textbook correct way to do it.

Cheap and it works just fine!!

PS: Don't get snookered into buying those overpriced LED strips that are being sold out there....The inexpensive <$10 models that you can get at your local Walmart or Autozone work just fine in an airplane.......

Default LED Dimmer

FWIW, I visited my local Radio Shack and for less than $10 apiece, I was able to build two dimmer controls and they are the PWM type and work very well.

Did the same thing...I bought two strips for $15 on eBay, used one on the panel, plus the $25 dimmer, and I have less than $35 in my panel lights!
