Default Another Facet Fuel pump concern

Just pulled the facet fuel pump out of the box from Vans. There is a white granular hard powder like substance throughout all the seems of the pump case. Is this stuff normal??? Kind of reminds me of the the white stuff you see on battery terminals in appearance.

Talked to Vans recently...seems all their pumps out of the box had this material around the edges. They were concerned enough about it that they are trying to contact the company about the pumps...Heads up for anyone who has recently purchased the Facet fuel pump from Vans.
