Default Wing Skin spacing

Quick question... What would previous builders and now (painted) flyers offer as optimum advice for the gap between the forward and aft wing skins i.e. where they "meet" at the spar? I have heard it said some sort of gap is best for painting etc.

Just at that point with the RV-3, and not being match drilled, I do have a choice

Thanks in anticipation
Andy

Default I left no gap

I did not leave any. I suspect that the suggestion came from a concern of paint flowing or bridging the gap? If that is the case, I would suspect that it would have more to do with the prep, paint, painter, and technique than anything. I have nice crisp lines and no bridges.
