Control rod ends long aileron pushrod

Hi all,

Just about to cut my long control rods for the ailerons (control stick to aileron bellcrank) and I am a bit confused by lengths etc.

Firstly the rod end seems to need to be fully screwed in to engage all the thread of the end bit of the rod, which would not give any play for adjustment. However with the rod end screwed all the way into the control rod, the jam nut fouls the aileron bell crank and does not permit full travel of the aileron. I seem to remember someone saying that only half of the rod end needs to be screwed in?

My thought is to use the long rod ends (I think normally used on the rudder?) on the aileron bell crank end ? this would give a nice amount of adjustment and would also allow the end to be fully screwed in to all the thread on aluminium bit and would also not foul the aileron bell crank.

Any thoughts before I go cutting the tubes?
