Default Transition training question...

I am in the market for an RV6A or 7A. My insurance quote wanted me to get 5 hours dual and 5 hours solo. Most transition instructors fly a taildragger. Will dual training in a taildragger suffice for my insurance company? Could I do training in anything other than a 6 or 7? ie and 9 or 10?

I fella named Jan Bussell does transition training in a -6A. He's down in south central Florida. Search him here or Google.

You'd get more from training in a -6 or -7. The -9 and -10 are a bit different.

Wow-I had the opposite trouble finding transition training, I needed a taildragger and everyone had and A.

Check with the insurance, my insurance didn't require a CFI, just a checkout by an owner. You might be able to do the same, and get checked out by the seller. You might be better served by spending the time in the plane you will own, than in something similar. You would get a headstart on learing the avionics and items specific to your plane.
