Default Viton Specs

I'm replacing the buna rubber AN o-rings in my brake calipers with Viton-A rings. I have purchased V75 and V90 rings. Based on an examination of nitrile (buna) specifications, the original rings have a "hardness" of 70, i.e., approximately equivalent to the Viton V75 rings.

Anyone have any experience/recommendations with which hardness to install?

Cheers,

Vac

Gary Van Remortal was the guy who turned me on to Viton O-rings for the calipers. He recommended the 70 durometer. [That is the rating of the original O-rings] So, from your two options, I'd say the 75 is the better choice.

Alton,
I think you've eaten to much Christmas turkey or ham. You will not find Viton O-rings from ACS. Try MSC or McMaster-Carr. Of course, you will have to buy a pack of 50. Your best hope is to buy small quantities is to get some of the surplus from the original poster. Remember to get at least 4 extras, for future replacements.
