Default flaring SS

I'm trying to flare some SS line for fuel. I'm using a KD Tool which I thought was a decent brand. I can not get the flare to form at all. The tool keeps pushing the tubing out of the clamp. I even put it into a vise and clamped the tool that was clamping the tubing. This is really tough stuff. Anybody have experience with flaring SS? Also Googled and didn't find anything different about flaring SS. I've seen several tools saying they can do SS but they are around $400!! Thanks! Dan

Default I have done a whopping two flares

Mine slipped also on the first try. I cranked down the wing nut with a screwdriver and it held well enough.

Surfaces free of oil? Maybe one wrap of electrical tape? Could just be the tool is out of tolerance in the clamp area.
