Replaced by SteinAir.
I discussed this with the current manufacturer, now in Australia. It seems this has happened on other units. Be sure you follow the wiring instructions. The unit does not stay in a continuos heating mode, but cycles. If wired incorrectly you will overheat the unit and caused a problem similar to those shown in the photos.
Mine was wired correctly and seldom used. New unit is OK.
