Default Possible LSA alternative engine....

On April 3, Jan Eggenfellner flew a Zenith 601 with a Honda engine out of Massey Air Ranch in Florida....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5W7i...eature=related

....it is an interesting, successful first flight, for those interested in interesting, successful first flights.

That is a 601HDS. They have no wing problems. It's the 601XL that has the wing problems.

On the other hand, the last time I checked the specs, the 601HDS does not meet light-sport stall speed criteria.

This one looks good. A bit too heavy to attack the core market for the Rotax 912, but it may very well mark the end for VW conversions weighing about the same but with considerably less power.
