Default RV-6A Crash in Lake Worth, FL

http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/pi...ed-517454.html

Here's an excerpt:

"Michael Cupaiole, 58, of Boynton Beach, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputies pulled him from the cockpit, according to Palm Beach Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Teri Barbera. The plane went down just east of the lake-front airport a little past noon."

My condolences to friends and family.

These are tough to hear about. It's a sad day. My condolences to his family.

Thoughts and prayers to the family. I am always puzzled why this occurs regularly:
Quote:
...he heard the plane's engine die about 150-feet overhead.

"He was directly above my house when I heard the engine stall," Angelis said. "He banked south and turned back to the airport. He was losing altitude fast." ...
.

Default For some reason we just can't refrain....

C'mon folks, can't we at least wait until the wreckage cools off before starting the very predictable armchair quarterbacking?????

We have lost a fellow aviator and a family is hurting......give it a rest for a few days.....at least wait for the prelim report.

Default Spike in Accidents

There seems to have been a spike in crashes since the beginning of April.

Reported by the FAA on April 5 were 35 crashes, 6 of them experimental with five leading to a total of 6 fatalities. Two were an RV-6 and an RV-6A, both into water.

Unseasonably good weather following a dormant winter?

Default Another good one gone.

Just wanted to post this, thought the RV crowd might want to see. Hope you don't mind a plastic guy on here. I know both of these guys. Michael will sure be missed. He was a great guy and that plane was a gem. We still don't know why but there was a lot of rain and he was out on the ramp. I don't think anything was found by the investigators. Probably water in the line. He was in construction so due to the economy he couldn't keep the hangar. He loved that airplane.
