Question Garmin 496 Battery issues

Purchased new 496, unit indicated failed batterie. Cust. support advised to run unit dead as per the batterie is good and charged but the unit thinks it was dead. Ran the unit bat. dead, now unit indicates batterie missing. Called cust. sup. they indicate the batterie software has been coorupted? and they are providing a new bat. Anybody know how to un-corupt the bat. software?

I may be mistaken, but I think it is referring to the softrware inside the battery. The program that indicated wheather or not the battery is fully charged. Just get a new battery.

Default 496 Battery

You are correct, it is the software in the battery. Wondering if there is any way to correct the battery software. The bat. is new, the unit is new, seems like there would be a way to correct this problem and salvage this new battery? Thanx for the response!
