Default Reusing the Cowl of a 6A on a -7

Is it practical to reuse the cowl of a wreck on a new plane? I have a cowl from a -6A that is in really good shape, and I would like to use it on my -7 project. I read that the fitting of the cowl is a major project. Am I better off starting from scratch? I am planning to use the engine from the wreck, and the same propeller.
