Default system 6 landing and taxi light heat.

Hi all;
I am just at the empenage stage waiting for the wings on my RV7a. I ordered the system 6 lighting system that uses MR 16 halogen lamps for both landing and taxi lamps. It looks like they draw about 7.5 amps at 14V on my bench. These things get really hot. I see there is about a 2" piece of aluminum sheet on the connector, and the lamps themselves are retained by sheet metal. I would guess this would act as a bit of a heat sink.

My question is this. Has anyone had heat related issues using these? Has any one done any venting or something to move the hot air out?

happy trails
