Default Pull mags w/engine on plane?

After 7 solid months of house renovations I can finally get back to my project. While the project was on hold I was able to find a nice used engine that has 2 mags and a SD-8 alternator. I am 100% sure the alternator has to go and I am debating replacing the mags with P mags. It will be several months before I have the cash for these upgrades, but I would like to hang the engine right now. Is is possible to swap mags and pull the SD-8 with the engine on the plane?

Thanks,
Rob

The minimum number of planes one should own is one. The correct number is n+1, where n is the number of planes currently owned. This equation may also be re-written as s-1, where s is the number of planes owned that would result in separation from your partner.

My engine/mount are in place. I just removed my mags and will be replacing them with 2 Pmags in a few days.

The information that I post is just that; information and my own personal experiences. You need to weight out the pros and cons and make up your own mind/decisions. The pictures posted may not show the final stage or configuration. Build at your own risk.
