Default Cleaning parts?

Hi All,

Getting ready to prime the first parts on my emp. I plan to use rattle can (NAPA) primer and wondered what everyone uses to clean/scuff the parts prior to priming.

I've read soap/water and just a Scotchbrite pad to scuff.

Just looking for ideas that have worked easily/well for others.

I use a 50/50 mix of acetone and lacquer thinner.

You will want more than soap & water. 70% or 99% isopropyl alcohol works, or acetone for something a little stronger. Clean before scuffing with ScotchBrite maroon pad and after, you don't want to scuff oil and dirt into the Al. The rattle can primers are self-etching so you'll be good to go.

Default Prep-All

Kleen Strip "Prep-All"
It is a relatively cheap easy to find wax and degreaser. Buy a gallon and it will last you an entire project.

All good ideas. Thanks, guys. I'll do more than soap/water for sure.
