Default Personal Locater Beacons

I see Sporty's has PLB's from $365 to $399.

Price is coming down. I believe I will buy one of these and find a used older one for my airplane.

First flight will be March of 2010.

Happy New Year to all Van's Airforce family.

Hi Carl,
I bought the McMurdo Fastfind 210 for around $275. It has the GPS feature and is the least expensive unit I've found so far.

If you're looking at these, I suggest you take a look at the SPOT locator too. Yes, it's got an annual fee, but the track log data and the ability for people to track your flight real time is an amazing improvement over a straight PLB or ELT.

The real-time tracking is optional, of course, you don't have to enable it on every flight.
