Default Updated Section 5

Pardon my ignorance if this has already been posted, but I noticed that an update (rev 12/8/05) to Section 5 - Construction Materials, Processes and Useful Information has been made available for download on the Van's web site.

After a very quick comparison, I noticed that they added a small section on drilling out rivets, and a digram of brake line fittings on page 5-12. There may be other changes, but I haven't noticed them yet.

Thanks for the update info. Brad! If Van's had included that section about drilling out rivets in my earlier edition, it would have made me rest a lot easier about a number of poorly set rivets that I drilled out (because I was worrying about them) but didn't really need to! I haven't had to use any bolts yet in my project, but I sure would have hated to use one had I known that the bad rivet was "good enough". I guess the "a poorly set rivet is 95% as strong as a perfectly set rivet" really is often true.

Exclamation Good vs. Bad rivets

Steve ... the definition of good and bad rivets can be found here on my web site....

....and a ripped off copy is also on Dan. C's web site.

There is quite a tolerance allowed.
