-8A QB Fuselage Question

The answer's probably in the plans somewhere, but I haven't been able to find it.

The -8A QB fuselage has a hinge pin running laterally near the front of the bottom fuselage, holding a panel against the fuselage bottom. What is the purpose - and when does one remove it?

IIRC, this was part of a planned cowl flap arrangement, that never got into production.

Seems to me that Dan Horton, Dan H in the forum, posted info about this.

Been a while back, try searching for it and reset the search time line to any time, default is 1 year ago.
