Default POH/AFM Required?

Debating with a friend if our wonderful RVs require a POH or AFM per FAR. Is a checklist required too? Reference please. Help me out. Thanks.

Does FAR 91.9 (B)(1) answer your question?

The AFM requirement required by 91.9(b)(1) applies to type certificated aircraft only, note reference to 21.5.

A POH or AFM, per sey, is not specifically required for experimental aircraft.

Your "operating limitations" covers this requirement.

Remember that your operating limitations must be aboard the aircraft at all times and available to the PIC.

That's not to say that a POH is not handy to have. It is. It's simply not required.
