Default Audio line shielding

I am wiring the audio lines between an icom 210 and a flightcom 403mc. Should the audio wires be shielded. Should they be individually shielded wires or can I use 2 strand shielded wire. Should the shields be grounded at both ends.

Thanks
Matt

Hi Matt,

I don't have the install drawings for a 403mc, but I am pretty sure that the 210 wants shielded wiring. The important thing is to do it exactly like the install drawings/manuals for the equipment call for, and you should be OK. Audio wiring is about the only real "magic" wiring in a plane these days - if you don't do it the way the specs call for, you'll likely have gremlins you will have a tough time eradicating....

Yes you need shielded and yes you can use the 2 conductor shielded, only ground at 1 end at the intercom with the rest of the audio grounds.
