If you have not yet started building it is very likely there will not be a Lowrance GPS in your panel. By the time you are ready to build your panel, the newest avionics will relegate the Lowrance to the status of a long-forgotten obsolete device.

I still fly an Airmap 1000 but recognize it as being anything but current technology. It would have no place in a new panel in my airplane, way too many great choices of newer GPS units.

I installed three different GPSs in my plane before it ever flew. But I was kind of a slow builder. Shortly after flying with the Garmin 496, the 696 came out. So the RV got a new mount, and it's fourth GPS.

LEI no longer has these in stock (March 2010) , but I purchased cable PC-DI2BK (often mispelled PC-D12BK) from www.franksgreatoutdoors.com last week. The cable is getting hard to find, but seems as though it isn't uncommon at marine stores which carry Lowrance products.
