Default "Standard" Instrument Panel Screw

Is there a "standard" through-panel fastener used for most or all panel-mount instruments - or do manufacturers just use whatever they feel like using?

Default The "standard" is "typically" brass...

...and the thread sizes can be 4-40 for the light stuff, 6-32 and /or 8-32 for the other stuff. I found the most common size to be 6-32. That said, my Falcon Gauge electric DG uses a metric size screw. The screw lengths vary all over the range.
